Mountaineering Guides Training

In the period between October 31st and November 4th 2014, at the mountaineering hut “Smreka” on Popova Sapka, Sar Planina, MMSF has organized a basic Mountaineering Guides Training (Kategory A). Commision for mountaineering guides at MMSF has selected 22 strong candidates from 14 mountaineering clubs from a pool of 45 applications comming from 21 mountaineering clubs registered in MMSF.
During the 42 working hours Training Programme, eight instructors/educators have interactively engaged the participants in the theory and practice of 12 subjects including: history and organization of mountaineering guiding; training and food; meteorology; technical mountaineering equipment; psyhology of guiding in mountains; first aid; resquing in mountains and many practical examples, like: knots and rope work; night orientation; usage of mountaineering technical equipment etc.
Next steps for gaining a licence of Mountain Guide for this group of candidates will be preparation of a written paper for one mountaineering tour, the examination tour and, finaly, a 2 year apprentice period.
Next mountaineering guides training will be held in May 2015 when new candidates will gain additional knowledge on the contemporary mountaineering standards.
