The Alpine Association of Slovenia (PZS) and the Croatian Mountaineering Association (HPS) have enjoyed a long-standing fruitful cooperation, which has been gaining new dimensions after the fifth meeting of their leaderships on 11 and 12 March 2016 in Starigrad, Paklenica.
We will continue to collaborate on the projects financed from the European funds, both in the area regarding mountain huts as well as in the areas of training and competitive activities, since Paklenica will be hosting the main international gathering of climbers within the framework of the Erasmus+ project. In the event that an umbrella European mountaineering organization will be established, we will act and present our coordinated positions together. Both mountaineering associations welcome the growth of the already established Slovenian and Croatian Ice Climbing Championship by including the climbers from Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as from Serbia, and in the future we also wish to maintain mutual access to and sale of mountaineering literature by the publishers of both associations.

Even more emphasis will be placed on the cooperation of the Slovenian regional alpine club committees and Croatian county associations on both sides of the border. They will also continue to develop professional cooperation of trail markers, mountain guides, alpine climbers, sport climbers and pedagogical professionals who work with young mountaineers. On 1 and 2 October 2016, the first international competition in mountain orienteering will be organized by the PZS. The exchange of good practices and lessons learned through courses and seminars, such as the BMU instructor training course in Bavšica in October 2015, the sport climbing instructor seminar in Paklenica, and the meeting of the youth group mentors in Omanovac, is commendable. The HPS prepared a list of ten attractive two- or multi-day hiking trips to the Croatian mountains, which will aid the Slovenian mountaineers in planning their tours in Croatia. The HPS also assisted in translating the PZS mountain hiking maps into Croatian.

The exhibition Together in the Mountains, which has been open since 2014 in Mojstrana, showcases the many years of cooperation between the Slovenian and Croatian mountaineers and alpine climbers. Last year it was hosted in Sevnica, Tršće, Rijeka and Zagreb, and everywhere it was received with great interest. The collaboration between the commissions for mountain trails is also excellent – with joint efforts they rebuilt the hiking trail in the canyon of the river Krupa. The formation of the transversal mountain hiking trail connecting 40 peaks of friendship is ongoing, and at the approaching completion of the European long-distance path E12, which has extended from Slovenia to Croatia, a special celebration will take place. In addition, after a few years of a standstill, the editorial boards of the journals Planinski vestnik and Hrvatski planinar are going to meet again this year.

Planinsko zvezo Slovenije (PZS) in Hrvaško planinsko zvezo (HPS) povezuje dolgoletno plodovito sodelovanje, ki po petem srečanju vodstev sosednjih zvez 11. in 12. marca 2016 v Starigradu v Paklenici dobiva nove razsežnosti. Srečanje je bilo drugič v planinskem okolju in že tradicionalno v prijetnem prijateljskem in delovnem vzdušju.
