By organizing mountaineering events under the catch-phrase Slovenia is Mountain Hiking, the Alpine Association of Slovenia joined in the activities of the European Week of Sport for the third time.
The European Week of Sport is the initiative by the European Commission for promoting sport and physical activity in Europe, and in Slovenia it is implemented by the Olympic Committee of Slovenia – Association of Sports Federations. It started on 23 September and ran till 30 September.
The Alpine Association of Slovenia joined in the activities of the European Week of Sport by organizing two main events. In the summer campaign The Most Popular Mountain Hut 2017, which was run by the AAS and the web portal Siol.net, mountain hikers decided that the most popular among 72 huts is the mountain hut Roblekov dom na Begunjščici (AC Radovljica), which hosted the celebration on 23 September. A week later, on 30 September, we marked the first year of the Slovenian Mountain Bike Route with the mountain biking tour above Tržič and awarding the badge to all seven mountain bikers who have already completed the route.
Under the wing of the project Slovenia is Mountain Hiking, more than 30 mountain hiking, mountain cycling, sport climbing and mountain orienteering events took place all aroud Slovenia in September and October 2017.
Slovenian summary: S planinskimi dogodki, združenimi pod imenom Slovenija planinari, se je evropskemu tednu športa že tretjič pridružila tudi Planinska zveza Slovenije. Evropski teden športa je pobuda Evropske komisije za spodbujanje športa in telesne dejavnosti v Evropi, v Sloveniji ga izvaja Olimpijski komite Slovenije – Združenje športnih zvez.
